Dr. Patricia Sylla Dr. Patricia Sylla has been a leader in developing minimally invasive approaches for the surgical treatment of colon and rectal cancer. While still a MIS fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, she developed a research and clinical program in transanal Natural Orifice Translumenal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) and in 2009, she performed the first NOTES transanal rectal cancer resection with collaborators in Spain. She has since helped implement transanal TME (taTME) worldwide training hundreds of surgeons. Dr. Sylla is Professor of Surgery and System Chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Mount Sinai Health System. She also serves as Director of clinical trials and Associate Director of the Colorectal Surgery Fellowship Program. Her clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive treatment of IBD, diverticular disease and colorectal cancer.
